Outrage Mob Is Fired Up About Peloton Commercial Which Encourages Good Health
One of the weirdest parts of the internet is those who come across as anti-health. The acceptance and cheering on of those who are grossly overweight is bizarre to me. I'm all for the pro-body image movement, but if you saw somebody drinking themselves to death every day, you'd probably say something. However, if you say something about somebody eating themselves to death, you are all of a sudden some awful human being.
This backward thinking was on full display yesterday on social media, as the outrage mob started to attack Peloton for this harmless commercial:
I could go on and on with these tweets. The timing of it was weird. This Peloton commercial has been out since mid-November. I'm not sure why the blue checkmarks waited until December 3rd to attack a commercial that portrays a person that accomplishes something she is clearly proud of.
To sum it up, people were mad that the husband gifted his wife a fitness product because he was signaling to her that she should get skinny. Peloton, therefore, is further advancing a negative society that is controlled by the REEEEEEKKKKK PATRIARCHY.
The outrage here is predictable, but also incredibly shortsighted. What if the husband knows that his wife wanted a Peloton? I'd even say that those outraged are further advancing the patriarchy by assuming that the woman in this situation wasn't focused on her own health, instead just listening to her drill instructor husband. In all honesty, I think that's disgusting. You know what's also disgusting? Shaming somebody for being proud of her accomplishments.

I'm not married, but if I were, I'm sure I'd want to help my wife further her ambitions in aspects such as health. I guess that's the toxic masculinity in me. I should just gift her an unlimited card to a fast-food chain instead.
Almost like Twitter is a bubble that an incredibly small percentage of the world lives in.
