The NFL Schedule Makers Do The Right Thing, Force Jerry Jones To Go To Philadelphia To Watch The Eagles Raise Their Super Bowl Banner

I know the NFL schedule doesn't always work like college football, but something always feels a little cheap to me when the league wastes a great division rivalry game early in the season. It's going to be good for ratings, but it just seems like you should give teams a few weeks of playing "out of conference" to really figure out their identity before hitting them with a massive divisional game. Especially considering how little of a shit teams give about preseason these days.

With all that being said…there's only one team I'd want to see the Philadelphia Eagles open up the 2025 NFL season with, and the schedule makers nailed this one on the head.

September 4th. Eagles vs Cowboys kicking off the new season, and Jerry Jones has to fly up to Philly to watch the Birds raise their 2nd Super Bowl banner in the past 7 years. It's going to be such a joyous night in Philadelphia, and I couldn't be happier that Jerry Jones gets to be there to soak it all in. It's been a while since Jerry has been around for a banner raising ceremony, so it'll be nice for him to remember what it's all about.

Now, sure, there's always a little trepidation when it comes to playing the Cowboys before the team really has a chance to figure itself out. Eagles vs Cowboy games are usually a toss up, especially when 90% of the starters aren't going to play at all in preseason. But the Eagles have won 8 of their last 9 season openers, with the only loss coming in that dog shit 2020 season. So I'm sure it'll look ugly for the first couple quarters. Maybe the team will even get boo'd running into the locker room for halftime. But a 1-0 start to the season combined with having Dallas in the building for the banner raising ceremony? You can't draw it up any better than that.

This city is ready for football again.
