Sometimes You Gotta Leave Your Baby In The Car To Celebrate National Tequila Day

NY Post - A Memphis, Tennessee mom has been accused of leaving her baby in a hot car while she went inside a restaurant to take part in National Tequila Day festivities on Tuesday, authorities said.

The mother, later identified as 26-year-old Rachel Vanwagner, allegedly went inside Cazadores Mexican Grill in Arlington while her baby remained in the car in the restaurant’s parking lot.

Authorities were called after people in the lot heard the baby crying, NBC12 reported.

When Shelby County sheriff’s deputies arrived, they reportedly found the baby in the backseat of the car, which was not on. The windows were slightly rolled down and the car’s doors were unlocked.

Temperatures around 7 p.m. that day, when the incident occurred, were nearly 95 degrees, NBC12 reported, though the temperature inside the car was likely hotter.

The baby was removed from the car and examined by first responders, the news station reported. Around that same time, Vanwagner reportedly ran out of the restaurant without any shoes, telling deputies she had been in the restaurant for roughly 30 minutes to “have one drink,” according to the news station.

Big time Friday shout out to Rachel Vanwagner. Look, I don’t blame her. Being a mom seems hard as hell. I have zero responsibilities, and I hate living life when alcohol isn’t involved. Imagine doing that as a 26 year old single mother? No thank you. No thank you at all. So if she wants to let down her hair, kick off her shoes, and get a few margs at the local Mexican Grill, more power to her. And look, I get it, you can’t necessarily “leave a baby in a hot car”, so to speak. But where’s that baby going? It can’t walk. Some would safe it’s never been safer than in the car. Better than leaving it with a babysitter, that’s for sure. Because then you have to pay a babysitter, and with the rate they demand, you might not be able to afford food anymore. So basically you would rather the baby die of hunger than to take a quit nap in the backseat? You’re a monster.

At the end of the day, National Tequila Day comes but once a year. It’s not her fault it was 95 degrees outside at 7pm. Can’t blame Rachel for Mother Nature’s doing. I guess she has learned her lesson now though. Next time she’ll leave the baby at home in a closet where nobody can hear it cry. Problem solved.
