This Goal Right Here Is How You Get Yourself On Scholarship
This. This kid right here is every coach’s worst nightmare and I’ll tell you why. Because anybody who has ever coached a day in their life knows exactly what was happening here. You’re watching this kid from the bench and the whole time you’re yelling to him to just get the ball settled on offense instead of forcing something. He’s running down the wrong side of the field, he’s heading right into a double team, one hand in a high traffic area. All you’re doing is screaming “pull it out, get settled, no no no no no”, then that one-handed behind-the-back shot ends up in the back of the net and you’re stuck looking like a total idiot.
But yeah, other than that this goal is downright preposterous. And you have to respect the…confidence it takes to just go for it like that. This is the type of move that either gets your ass glued to the bench if it doesn’t go in, or it ends up as the #1 play on SportsCenter the next day if it goes.
It’s hard enough to get the NLL in general some exposure from mainstream outlets, let alone a Jr NLL tournament. I just feel bad for that goalie that he’s gonna have to watch that over and over and over again. Poor kid. That’s just wrong place, wrong time. Lucky for him, teenagers aren’t typically assholes or anything so I’m sure that nobody is going to give him too much of a hard time about this one.
