Barstool AdOps Guy/Eyak Producer And, For Some Reason, Freelance NFL Film Expert Breaks Down Fletcher Cox
Stevey Cheah. If you don’t know him by now, he’s currently an AdOps guy on the second floor that also moonlights as a producer for Eyak and Laces Out. He’s also a gem of a gem in all aspects of life. Overall great guy, and somehow, has the football mind the likes of if Bill Belichick had a kid with Doug Pederson while getting goosed by Lombardi. It has been noted on Barstool before that Stevey spends his free time breaking down film, All-22 style, for his Tampa Bay Bucs. We’re talking hours upon hours of film study that coaches at any level would salivate over. Why? I’m still not sure. Nobody is. But I LOVE it. So when Stevey breaks down how Fletcher Cox lives, eats, and fucks on the field, we take a gander:
Cheah’s Thoughts:
Why are you showing a play from last year vs. Buffalo? That’ll make sense in a second. This play is a long developing play action where TE O.J. Howard runs a deep crossing route to the opposite corner and is typically WIDE open. It worked to perfection three times last year as you can see here for a TD vs. Buffalo:
The Bucs ran that play on Sunday and the Eagles were clearly prepped for it and even triple teamed Howard on that play (multiple Eagles defenders even point to O.J. as he’s crossing the field). That attention freed up WR Mike Evans over the middle and RB Peyton Barber in the flat. However, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had to get rid of the ball in a hurry due to the pressure that Fletcher Cox generated. The pass fell incomplete killing one of the Bucs ‘shot’ plays. These are things that don’t necessarily show up on the broadcast that are hidden in the All-22.
Here, Fletcher Cox obliterates RG Caleb Benenoch with a quick stutter swipe move and is in the backfield before the play develops, ending in a sack.
Later in the game, Cox takes the RG again and puts him on the ground with a ridiculous bull rush. Benenoch is 6’5″ 305 lbs. and Cox literally lifts him off the ground as the Eagles stop Barber for no gain.
Cheah’s Conclusion:
Fletcher Cox is an ultra-disruptive force in the middle for the Eagles. The first Eagles play in this blog showed he is just relentless. After getting initially stifled, went back to disrupt a potentially big play. His speed & strength are highlighted in the sack & running play. Overall, he is the engine of this defense and needs to be accounted for by the offense on every play.
End scene.
Just a quick little scope into Stevey’s football prowess. Good man, @CHEAH_SAY, follow him on Twitter for more All-22 access. And all hail Fletcher Cox.
