Skip Bayless Says Belichick's Mic'd Up Comments Prove He 'Doesn't Have Much Respect' for Aaron Rodgers
“I was shocked he would speak so negatively about a quarterback he praised so profusely ahead of the football game. I think he revealed his true view of Aaron Rodgers, for whom he doesn’t have much respect, or he would’ve never gone there. … I think you heard the truth. I think you heard, effectively, behind closed doors and it got out to the public.” – Skip Bayless
Just so we’re all on the same page, here’s the clip that I posted yesterday that Skip is going on about.
Before you get ahead of yourself and think “Here comes Old Balls, counter-attacking someone who came after Belichick again,” understand that I’m not mad at Skip. I’m impressed. Legitimately. Broadcasting can be hard at times. Especially on these SportsShouting shows, where so much of it is taking nothing and turning into something. Anything.
This is beyond merely crafting a Hot Take out of thin air. It’s alchemy. Taking lead and turning it into TV gold. Your average-to-above average talk guy would’ve heard that and said “that’s just a coach coaching.” But Skip is neither average or above average. He’s the stuff of legends.
I’m shocked. Profusely. Aaron Rodgers has been exposed. Belichick has no respect for him. The mic accidentally caught him in a private moment we weren’t meant to hear. Nobody would ever disrespect Brady like that because they’re afraid.
Just molten lava take after molten lava take. Even though Belichick was voluntarily mic’d up. That he was (pardon the expression) doing his job. Even though the same things have been said about every quarterback who’s ever quarterbacked since the Cro-Magnon days. In particular, Brady. Some form of “He gets rattled if you collapse the pocket” has been said about him by every opposing coach to their defensive front from Tony Dungy to Tom Coughlin to Rex Ryan to John Harbaugh to Doug Pederson. And nobody thought anything of it. Until Skip. That’s why he’s earning every penny of the $26 million he got paid to host a show nobody watches.
For the record, here’s a longer video, where Belichick and Rodgers basically go all Brokeback Midfield on each other after the game:
I’ll be looking forward to Skip spinning this into “Belichick says Rodgers is better than Brady.” Because that’s just what an all time great of his caliber would do. RESPECT.
