And After The Most Bizarre 24 Hours In Flyers History, Dave Hakstol Has Finally Been Fired. Confirmed
Jesus Christ. There is only one team in the world who could have made that process as difficult as they did and that was the Philadelphia Flyers. First it was already out there that regardless of how the Vancouver game went on Saturday night, it would be Dave Hakstol’s final game with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Then yesterday, Dave Isaac puts out the report that Hakstol had indeed been fired and that the team fully anticipates Joel Quenneville accepting the offer to be the next coach in line.
But then the Flyers denied that report and continued to claim that they weren’t firing Hakstol.
And then today the team announced that they had called up the future franchise goaltender Carter Hart amidst all this chaos.
And then when the Flyers were finally out there for practice today, this came through the wire.
Which has now been confirmed by everybody besides the Philadelphia Flyers’ main twitter account because this goddamn organization is so dysfunctional and the way that they have handed this entire ordeal has been horrible. It hasn’t been fair to anybody involved. Not to Dave Hakstol, not to the players, not to to fans, not to some journalists who had to catch some heat yesterday after their reports were denied. But you know what? None of that matters anymore.
BECAUSE DAVE HAKSTOL IS NO LONGER THE HEAD COACH OF THE PHILADELPHIA FLYERS AND NOW THE HEALING PROCESS CAN FINALLY BEGIN. And not only does the healing process get to begin, but we also get to see Carter Hart up with the Flyers for a few games while the rest of the goalies are in the hospital because that’s where all Flyers goalies go to die.
But yeah, the Flyers are still working on a press release right now even though everybody has known that Dave Hakstol was getting fired for the past 48 hours. They botched this entire situation but as long as it ended with Hakstol getting canned, none of it matters. Time to crack open multiple cold ones and start the celebration.
And just in case you missed it, here’s my blog from yesterday
