Does This Look Like the Face of a Mr. Sober, Who Was Arrested for Drunk Driving?
Source – Daniel Sober, 44, was busted Saturday evening for drunk driving following a police stop near his home in Lower Burrell, a Pittsburgh suburb.
A breath test, cops say, recorded Sober’s blood alcohol content at .194, more than twice the legal limit.
Sober … was charged with drunk driving and careless driving, according to court records.
We can say this for Daniel Sober: What he lacks in the ability to drive drunk (“Careless driving?” On a .194 BAC? Amateur.), he more than makes up for in his flair for irony. He’s like O. Henry, if O. Henry was a drunken Penguins fan.
My greatest wish on this is that the arresting cop’s body cam footage is released. I just want to see the exchange between them, because it must’ve been an Abbott & Costello routine:
“Have you been drinking tonight, sir?”
“Yes.”
“What’s your name?”
“I’m Sober.”
“Didn’t you just tell me you’ve been drinking?”
“I AM Sober.”
“Sir, are you drunk?”
“Yes. But I’m Sober.”
“What?”
“Second base.”
It writes itself. But even still it couldn’t ever be as good as the best line in TV history.
Police Squad was one of those shows that failed only because it was too good for television.
P.S. As a public service announcement: Don’t drive drunk. No matter how ironically hilarious your last name is.
