It's 2019 And More Bars Need To Start Serving Gatorade (Or Any Other Sports Beverage)
So I’m not sure if you guys noticed this or not but it was hot as shit this weekend. Pretty crazy thing that happens once we get closer to summer is that the weather typically starts heating up. But yeah, I spent the majority of the weekend getting blasted by the sun at Lincoln Financial Field for the lacrosse national championships. Now not to brag or anything, but I have a few friends. Nothing crazy but I’d at least classify it as a handful of friends. So after getting blasted by the sun all day and sweating my bag off for 10 hours, I’d head out to a few local establishments with a few buddies. And that’s when the idea dawned on me…
Why in the goddamn fricking heck do bars not have at least one or two Gatorade flavors on tap?
It’s one of the most sensible ideas of all time yet here we are in the year 2019, and I don’t think I know of any bars that have this type of option available. Just think about how nice it would be to start off your night by ripping a few shots of Fierce Grape? You don’t want to be that loser who starts ordering waters between every drink but you’re also an athlete. Hydration is key and you have a ton of fluids to replenish. Water gets the job done, sure, but nothing would get you buzzin around in the bar quite like getting that electrolyte intake up.
And I know that a lot of bar owners would start to worry about people coming in and ordering more Gatorade than beer. But an easy way to combat that is to just start making a few different Gatorade cocktails. Blue gatorade and vodka. Lemon lime gatorade and tequila. Purple gatorade and literally anything. And you have to imagine that you’re going to start selling a shit ton more of those drinks because everybody is getting hydrated while slamming back a few shots instead of getting shitfaced hammered after just a few.
I just think it’s an idea that would benefit everybody. Anybody who is dragging after spending all day out in the sun on a hot summer’s day will get the little recharge that they need to have themselves a night. And then the bar can make a shit ton of money. Win-win for everybody. But until bars in America start having a Gatorade draught list, I guess I’ll just have to continue living that BYOG lifestye.
