Masahiro Tanaka Rips Phil Mushnick And His Garbage NY Post Article Titled "Gary Sanchez Doesn't Know a Thing About Baseball"
TALK THAT SHIT MASA!!!
In case you missed it over the weekend, Phil Mushnick of the NY Post wrote one of the worst things in the history of words. He titled the article ‘Gary Sanchez doesn’t know a thing about baseball.’ It’s complete and utter garbage. It’s so bad I think Phil should be put behind bars. It was so bad that Masahiro Tanaka couldn’t help himself from coming out on the Twittersphere to defend his battery mate. Like Tanaka, I refuse to link to the article, but it’s a fucking joke. Before we get into the article, let’s refresh ourselves with Phil Mushnick.
Back in 2012 when Jay Z bought the Nets, Mushnick criticized their rebrand of black and white colors. He suggested they do the “full Jay-Z treatment” and rename the team the “Brooklyn N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!” Yeah, that’s Phil Mushnick. People employ this pathetic excuse of a writer. How can you write that, then defend it after the criticism, and keep your job?
Now to what he said about Gary Sanchez…
It seem as if several times per game he shows himself to be totally unfamiliar with the sport, beyond swinging as hard as he can to try to hit home runs.
Thursday against the A’s in Oakland, Sanchez led off the second with an, oops, line-drive single. The next batter, Brett Gardner, hit a hard grounder to first — the ball’s first bounce was immediate, just a few feet beyond the plate — yet Sanchez was seen running toward second at a minimized pace because he was looking back toward first.
What did he expect to see at or near first? I don’t know. A pink flamingo?
Sanchez plays his position as if under a spell, a fog that fills him with indifference. He runs the bases — when he’s in the mood — as if he’s lost beyond anything more challenging or thought-worthy than a home run trot.
To say Gary Sanchez doesn’t know a thing about baseball is just insane. He just became the fastest catcher to 100 home runs in Major League Baseball history. The second fastest player ever behind only Ryan Howard.
He also has one of the best arms I’ve ever seen from the catcher’s position. Sure he used to have severe issues behind the plate, but the hard work he put in the offseason has pretty much erased those. There has not been a moment all year where Yankee fans groaned seeing 24 behind the plate. He’s been fantastic all around.
A guy who doesn’t know a thing about baseball doesn’t improve like that. He doesn’t gun down runners at the rate he does. He doesn’t call a game like he does behind the plate. Every pitcher we talk to raves about Gary behind the plate and it’s not because they have a gun to their head. They mean it. Tanaka doesn’t come out and tweet like that ever. You know seeing that article angered the whole pitching staff.
I know the KFC Radio boys have a strong hold on the “cancel culture” but I’m here to say I’m cancelling Phil Mushnick. Fuck this clown.
