Happy 10 Year Anniversary (And 100 Losses) To The Redskins Hiring Bruce Allen!
10 years ago today, the Redskins made the decision to bring in Bruce Allen to run the Redskins. Why did they bring him in? Oh, because his father is George Allen the former coach and his brother is George Allen the politician. It’s not like he had a winning record in Tampa, in fact, he ruined a pretty good team and turned them into losers. But nevertheless, Dan Snyder thought he would be the *perfect* addition to the front office. And since that tragic day, the Skins are 62-100-1. AND HE HAS NOT ONLY KEPT HIS JOB, BUT HE’S BEEN PROMOTED!!!!
How has he kept his job? That’s not rhetorical, there’s an actual answer. By being Dan Snyder’s yes man. By being his enabler. By telling him everyone ELSE is wrong and he’s right. And then he drinks a Coors Lite and cashes huge paychecks. He gets in front of the camera and reads the scripted lines like….
I think this is his last year. It has to be. The rumors keep picking up. He didn’t meet with Dan Snyder after the game on Sunday which is a rarity. Alex Smith looks like he’s Dan’s new sidekick, which worries me a little but also maybe Alex can talk some sense into him? Show him the road to success? Run him over with his car? We can only hope.
But honestly, the fact it’s been 10 years with Bruce is astonishing. Just goes to show what brown-nosing can do. He’s done a great job if you break down his job to being the whipping boy for the Redskins. He’s been marvelous at that. But absolutely wretched at everything else. Attendance is at rock bottom. Fan morale is at rock bottom. The culture is at rock bottom. And if you check the standings- rock bottom.
I don’t think getting rid of Bruce is the end all be all, obviously. It starts with lil Dan Dan. It starts with how he treats his employees, his refusal to hire football guys to make football decisions, and his stubbornness to how he runs the team from top to bottom. He is the absolute worst and I wish terrible things to happen to him. And we know what will happen- he will fire Bruce, make changes, promise change, and then it will all blow up within 2 seasons because he is a narcissistic egotistical asshole. All we can hope is he sells the fucking team.
