Madden 21 Unveils 'The Yard', Which Just Looks Like a Poor NFL Street Remake

On Thursday, EA Sports unveiled a new game mode which will be available in Madden 21 called "The Yard." I'm conflicted on how to feel about this, because it sort of looks like just a poor attempt at re-creating NFL Street — one of the greatest video games of all-time — but at least EA put something new in Madden this year.

But instead of making this some sort of minigame, why couldn't EA just actually make NFL Street again? I would all but guarantee if you took a random sample of Madden consumers and asked if they'd buy a new version of NFL Street, the response would be overwhelmingly positive. I play Madden almost begrudgingly, but I would shell out $60 in a heartbeat for a new NFL Street.

Do y'all remember how fun that game was? Getting a Gamebreaker in NFL Street was one of the five best things that a kid could achieve in 2004.

I hope I'm wrong and "The Yard" is the best thing in Madden this year and it becomes a really cool thing for years to come. But people have been begging for years for Madden to fix the simulation part of its game and instead they just threw this in there to try to do something hip.

Fix all the glitches in the actual football in Madden and then remake NFL Street after that.
