It's August 14th Which Means It's Officially Pumpkin Beer SZN
Back in 2014 I wrote a blog on August 14th asking if it was too early to start consuming fall/pumpkin beers. Personally, I am a huge fan of these seasonal ales. From a good hearty Oktoberfest to a delicious pumpkin Schlafly, tis the season for nutmeg spices, a hints of caramel malt, and touches of clove and cinnamon. And when you get a pumpkin beer in a bar and they give you that cinnamon sugar rimmed glass, oh baby, it's like what I imagine sex feels like.
So fast forward 3 years. Our dear friend Uncle Chaps, wrote a blog celebrating the joyful goodness of pumpkin spice, on...you guessed it, August 14th!
Somehow all the stars aligned and Mercury and Saturn's rotations lined up and Chaps and myself both declared it Pumpkin Spice SZN on the same day, 3 years apart. And so that's why August 14th is the official kick off of all things spice and all things nice.
For those who say it's too early, by all means, you do you. I'm not here to tell you what to eat or drink, and vice versa my good friends. Just know when you see those pumpkin spice donuts giving you the side-eye as you're perusing the shelves at the grocery store, it's fine and dandy to treat yourself to a spicy treat. Be a naughty girl, you deserve it.
So happy Pumpkin season to all. My favorite pumpkin beers are Schlafly and Dogfish head, and I suggest trying a Chai tea with pumpkin, it's a delicious kick in the pants.
PS: I wrote this last year and it still doesn't make total sense to me, why do we have seasonal flavors at all? What is strawberry was only around from March to May? Why are we putting limits on tastes at all? It's like how it took McDonald's 150 years to realize they should be serving breakfast all day. Just think for a second, you jabronis, give the people what they want, and profit.
