Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis Should Be In The Defensive Player Of The Year Discussion

In primetime on Monday Night, Carlton Davis got his 4th interception of the year, which ties him for the league lead. He's also done a great job this season in his film study and he's clearly more comfortable in Todd Bowles' scheme in Year 2, which is translating in his play on the field.

In Week 1 he held a fully healthy Michael Thomas to 2 catches for 9 yards (Thomas had one other catch that game not vs. Davis).

Going back to last year he put the clamps on DeAndre Hopkins too (*Davis wore #33 last year).

Before the season Bucs HC Bruce Arians said Davis was a top 10 Cornerback in the league. Two weeks ago, I upped the ante, to which Davis went over the top:

OchoCinco has been grinding some tape and he sees the truth too. Game recognize game.

With nobody looking like a runaway for Defensive Player of the Year yet (Myles Garrett, Aaron Donald likely frontrunners at the moment), Davis should absolutely be in the discussion as he's putting together a banner year in Tampa Bay.
