It's With a Heavy Heart I Report Zach Wilson's Mom Has Made Her IG Private After Her Anti-Disney Rant

Yesterday I brought you this post about Lisa Wilson, the mom of the New York Jets latest in a long line of franchise quarterbacks/saviors. About what an absolute Instagram rant machine she is, what kind of superstardom awaits her, and how smitten I am:

Alas though, it was not meant to be. Just 24 hours later, I am saddened, not gladdened by the latest news. Lisa Wilson's 'Gram account has gone dark:

Source -  After receiving a whirlwind of attention when her son went No. 2 in the 2021 NFL Draft, Lisa Wilson has made her social media private. There was no publicized reason given for the influencer’s decision. …

In a lengthy rant on her Instagram stories, Lisa appeared to complain about COVID-19 mask policies at Disney World parks, calling the establishment “maskholes.” The dance instructor, in one clip, said her family only lasted a few hours at Disney because they “hate amusement parks” and “it was hotter than a whore in church.” …

Before going private, Wilson had shared some of the negative comments she had received about her Disney complaints.

“I want to make it clear that I did wear my mask PROPERLY all day!” Wilson wrote. “I didn’t get reprimanded even once! I am very respectful. But it is miserable being at the ‘happiest place on earth’ with police walking around yelling at people for taking a drink of water. It’s outside, it’s hot and a lady in front of us passed out in line."

Dammit all. Just another example of the internet victimizing good people. And I'm not talking about Mrs. Wilson, but all of us who had quickly become her fans. We all suffer because a few miserable, bitter, judgmental busybodies who hate everything, including their own squandered existences, had to shout her down just for speaking her truth. Now her 22,000+ (and climbing) followers who enjoyed her content are denied it. And her crime was being real instead of all filtered, corporate and bland. It's a crime and a sin.

The question remains: Who forced Lisa Wilson out? Who pressured her to go private with her thoughts? Who silenced her? In this particular game of "Clue," everybody's a suspect. Just taking the three most likely culprits:

The Jets.

The Jets just made it through the Adam Gase Era. And by "made it through," I don't mean they survived. For crissakes, the reason they have Zach Wilson in the first place is they were terrible, but not terrible enough to get Trevor Lawrence. Meaning they couldn't even lose properly. I'm sure the last thing they want is a hot shit around saying interesting and colorful things. Because they mistake the bad kind of crazy - Gase's - with the good kind, which is Lisa Wilson's unique brand of unfiltered honesty. Though to be fair

When your recent history includes not just Gase but Rex Ryan, Geno Smith getting his jaw smashed in by a teammate over 600 bucks, and the Buttfumble, a little peace and quiet is probably not too much to ask for.

Is there an entity on the planet (I hesitate to call him a human being) less interested in genuineness than the stiff, personality-free, vaguely man-shaped creature in charge of the NFL? The CommissionerBot 3000 is not programmed to process a true personality in his midst. Even one who'd generate some interest around the least interesting team in the league, operating in the world's biggest media market. Lisa Wilson has a chance to become a fixture on the back pages and on Page Six with her candid and unscripted thoughts. But all this lifeless empty suit wants is nothing that's going to potentially make it awkward for his advertisers and beloved corporate sponsors. Which brings us to the chief suspect.

Disney.

Disney owns ESPN. ESPN pays dumptrucks filled with gold bars for Monday Night Football, highlight packages, and thousands of hours of pro football adjacent programming. That tail definitely has the power to have wagged this dog. You might think that the world's biggest media and entertainment conglomerate could ignore one woman telling her story about what a hassle one of their theme parks was. But if so, you don't know how the Mouse operates. They don't tolerate dissent when it comes to The Happiest Place on Earth [tm]. My guess is their goons got to Lisa W. And we are all poorer for it.

Still, I have hope at least. My request to follow her has been submitted. I hope it gets accepted. But if it doesn't, I'll just chalk it up to the fact this world was never meant for rants as beautiful as hers.
