Steven Cheah's NFL Top 100 Players in 2021: Outside Looking In #101-#111
I'm pleased to announce that every Tuesday morning at 11am eastern for the next 10 weeks I'll be putting out my Top 100 NFL Players list. I put a lot of work into this and did my due diligence across the entire league, so I'm excited for it to come together over the next two plus months. NFL Network does the list and guys that are on the bubble that go up to #110, so I'll raise them one and go to an unheard of 111. Here are my guys that just missed the final cut this year, #101 - #111.
*Note - This list is exempt of any Rookies and other Players that played zero games in 2020 due to either injury or opt outs.
111) WR Robby Anderson - Carolina Panthers (2020 Rank: N/R)
Anderson broke out last year with 95 catches for 1,096 yards and 3 TDs. It was his first career 1,000+ yard season but with his old Quarterback, Sam Darnold coming over from the Jets, I'd look for that streak to continue. Anderson proved last year he wasn't just a deep threat and shows good competitive toughness in the run blocking game for a skinnier WR.
110) OT Isaiah Wynn - New England Patriots (2020 Rank: N/R)
Wynn has been rock solid since recovering from his achillies injury his rookie year, which is no small feat considering he's a Left Tackle. He did have another knee injury that ended his season with six games to go in 2020, but assuming he's back to full health, he showed enough this year to be a threat to crack this the Top 100 list next year.
109) C Jason Kelce - Philadelphia Eagles (2020 Rank: #66)
Kelce is getting a bit long in the tooth at age 33 entering season 11, but he's still playing at a high level. He made the Pro Bowl, but after three straight All-Pros, he didn't get that distinction last year. The Eagles also had a ton of injuries across the Offensive Line and having the often-sacked Carson Wentz behind Center for the majority of the year doesn't help. With the Offensive Line getting healthy and Jalen Hurts being named the starter, look for Kelce to a threat to get back into the All Pro discussion at Center. Also a former B.O.Y. Award winner:
108) S Jeremy Chinn - Carolina Panthers (2020 Rank: N/R)
Chinn is a freakshow athlete and a steal in the 2nd Round of the 2020 Draft. He can play in the box as a Linebacker, cover Tight Ends, or sometimes even step out to the slot. He is a big time playmaker that finished with 117 tackles as a rookie and these two Touchdowns:
107) WR Chris Godwin - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020 Rank: 44)
Godwin had a bit of a down year coming off 1,333 yards and 9 TDs in 2019, but he also missed some time with a broken finger. He is a great route runner and run blocker, but did deal with some very uncharacteristic drops in the playoffs which is why he falls out of the Top 100. After getting the Franchise Tag, he's in a contract year and will hope to cash in on a big 2021 with the help of TB12.
106) DE Trey Hendrickson - Cincinnati Bengals (2020 Rank: N/R)
Hendrickson was an unsung hero for the Saints last year. He finished tied with Aaron Donald for 2nd in the league in sacks with 13.5. He impressed so much that he earned a 4-year $60M contract from the Bengals. He'll replace the next guy on the list by heating up the Quarterback while wearing stripes this coming season.
105) DE Carl Lawson - New York Jets (2020 Rank: N/R)
Lawson was a sneaky signing by Gang Green as he hasn't put up huge numbers (just 10.5 sacks the past two seasons combined) and dealt with some injury issues. But he played all 16 games last year for the Bengals and offers some scary speed to power that will amp up the Jets pass rush Week 1.
104) C Ryan Jensen - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020 Rank: 94)
Jensen had a good year protecting the G.O.A.T. and is the enforcer on the Buccaneers talented Offensive Line. He is the classic 'guy you'd hate to play against but love to have on your team'. He is always playing through the whistle and finishing his blocks. He even drew a critical 15-year unsportsmanlike conduct call on Chiefs DT Chris Jones in the Super Bowl.
103) DE Demarcus Lawrence - Dallas Cowboys (2020 Rank: 92)
Lawrence is another monster on the EDGE that plays better than his stats would indicate. His 6.5 sacks last year were up from 5.0 the year before, but this guy is all out on every play and teams always must gameplan for #90.
102) G Ali Marpet - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020 Rank: 64)
Ali Marpet is a beast and has been a staple at Left Guard for the Bucs ever since 2015 where he was a 2nd Round Draft pick out of Hobart College. Despite his calm temperament off the field, he has everything you'd want from your Guard on the field. Because of the team he's played on, he tends to get overlooked in the Top Guard discussions, but that's starting to change now that he's a Super Bowl Champion.
101) DT Jonathan Allen - Washington Football Team (2020 Rank: N/R)
Allen doesn't jump off the stat sheet, but that's why we don't box score scout in Football. Despite only having 2.0 sacks last year, Allen was a disruptive force for the Washington Football that is loaded on the Defensive Line.
Stay tuned next Tuesday at 11am eastern for the debut of the actual Top 100 list, #91 - #100.
