BREAKING: Fernando Tatis Jr. Will Miss A Huge Chunk Of The Regular Season After Mysteriously Breaking His Wrist This Offseason

It's actually starting to get into the tragic territory for Tatis's career because I think he may never get a full 150+ game season. Even last year he was practically at the top of MLB with 6.6 WAR and that's in 130 games with nagging this and that injuries. It's hard to imagine just how much damage he would do if fully healthy and I say that now clearly knowing we are devoid of yet another year of his maximum entertainment value. Legitimately: baseball fans cannot catch a goddamn break. Everyone should be feeling bad about this news even Dodgers fans. By far my favorite thing to come out of MLB last year was the preposterous NL West race and I was very much looking forward to that 2.0 version in 2022.

Sincerely, good luck to Tatis in getting back on the field 100%. If anything this just gives more credence to my argument that MLB should allow teams to designate two players each season to get to use PED's. Just two players but they get to do whatever kinda steroids they want with no repercussions. Introduce fresh strategy into the game. Do you dope up your 4th and 5th starters? Do you turn a light hitting infielder into a power hitter? Do you use it on a guy with injury problems in hopes that it helps keep them on the field? There's so many good debates if you let two guys use steroids every year. In this case I think Tatis is your #1 choice to get the needle and boy would that be spectacular.

On a speculative and actual serious level - wouldn't it be some wild shit if the lockout prevented Tatis from getting the necessary medical treatment here? Sounds like one of those situations where you'd really want your superstar infielder to be able to access team medical facilities. Sure would suck if the Padres shot themselves in the foot here and the injury turns out way worse than it would have been should he have been able to meet with team docs.

End of the day though we all end up on the IL/DL here. DL sounds way better. Switching to IL was a real suck job. Even so, we're all on the DL until Tatis comes back because this dude is fuckin sweet. Well worth staying up late for the west coast games just to see him hit two bombs to completely different sides of the ball park then run into center field and make a barehanded over the shoulder grab. If we're lucky he'll be back int he 2nd half and that would be outstanding.

Developing situation. More on this as we go. In the meantime, good thing the Padres lineup is absolutely fuckin stacked.
