Bryan Harsin Was Going To Meet With A Reporter He Was Upset With When He Found Out He Was Fired
I don't know that there could have been a better story than this to encapsulate why the Bryan Harsin era at Auburn was such an epic failure.
On Monday of a game week, Harsin was going to take time out of his day to meet with a reporter one-on-one because he was upset about something he had written. That seems to me like something you maybe don't worry about when you're 3-5 and about to get canned.
Insecurity has been one of the biggest common characteristics of the most recent coaching failures in the SEC specifically. Butch Jones was infamously very much online and aware of what was being said about him in the media. If you don't have thick skin and are requesting meetings with any reporter who dares to criticize you, you're going to have a rough time in the Southeastern Conference.
I wish Harsin and Justin Hokanson still had the meeting. Obviously they're both a bit busier today than they anticipated, but that's when you find out how mad Harsin actually was about whatever it is Hokanson wrote. If Harsin wasn't still mad enough to take the meeting, it seems to me he was just trying to waste some time on a Monday until Auburn got its shit together and fired him and he could collect his $15 million buyout.
The good news is Harsin won't have to worry about media members writing things about him for much longer.
