Not Enough Is Being Made About LeBron Unleashing Another All Time Lie Over All Star Weekend

Earlier today in the NBA stretch run blog I had a note in there about the pressure on the Lakers, how their path to the playoffs or even the Play In is a little tricky based on tie breakers, and that everything revolved around this quote from LeBron

but a quote so insane needed a separate blog. I mean we all know LeBron blatanly lies, it's one of his favorite things to do. Whether it's about reading the Godfather, or how he predicted Kobe's 81

It's funny to go back and see all the lies we've had to endure during LeBron's reign

but this one has to be up there.

Why?

Because every person with eyes and a working brain who has watched the NBA this year knows the LeBron very much cared about breaking Kareem's record. So much so, that I'm pretty sure the Lakers first 55 games mattered a whole lot more to LeBron. We know this to be true because despite still being in a tight race for the Play In, LeBron immediately sat the following 3 games (Lakers went 1-2) because he was dealing with a foot injury. He did play in their last game before the break (a win), so you can see why this is a little confusing.

If these final 23 games are the most important of LeBron's career in the regular season, why didn't he rest up along the way to break Kareem's record? I imagine these final 23 are important because if the Lakers struggle, they'll miss the playoffs. Well, that was also true while he was sitting games before the All Star break after hitting his record, so what gives?

That's how you know LeBron is lying and saying this shit for show. It's basically a regular season Zero Dark 23 or whatever that bullshit is. If the Lakers miss the playoffs, you think LeBron gives a shit? You think he's going to consider this season a failure despite what happened with the scoring record? Hell no.

The beauty of this is we've already seen this exact scenario with LeBron and the Lakers. There was the time in February 2019 when the Lakers were on the brink of not making the playoffs and LeBron basically said he wasn't worried about it or thought about it

“You either make it or you don’t make it. That’s when you worry about it.”

Hm, at the time the Lakers were a threat to miss the playoffs, how come those weren't the most important games of LeBron's career?

A few weeks later after another bad loss, with only around 20 games left in the season, he had this to say

You might not remember, but you know what hit his IG feed after this same game?

You'll never believe this but the Lakers missed the playoffs that season. Does that feel familiar at all? I dunno, maybe after another embarrassing loss to OKC at home?

So yeah, I'm having a hard time believing that the final 23 games of the Lakers season are more important to LeBron than the games it took him to break Kareem's record. Also not to metion, were none of the final games last year important for LeBron? Before he was shut down for an injury, the Lakers were still in the Play In hunt. They ended up missing by just 1 game and were just 3-11 in the games LeBron played in after the All Star break before being shut down. Interesting how that works huh.

What I love is if the Lakers somehow don't get it done and end up in the Lottery, what's the spinzone LeBron goes with? You can't say these are the most important games of your career and then not come through. You also can't sit for load management. Personally, I think they win enough to at least make the Play In, but if you honestly think these final games of this season mean more to LeBron than the games it took him this season to break Kareem's record, you basically haven't been following LeBron these last 20 years.
