Bronny James Just Signed A 4-Year, $7.9 Million Deal When Last Year's 55th Pick Signed A Two-Way Contract Worth $560K

4 YEARS? $7.9 MILLION? Folks it's one thing for Bron Sr. to get his son drafted with a pick that would've likely been a throwaway anyways, but this man just got his boy 3 years guaranteed in the league with a 4th year team option, which is flat out unprecedented for a 2nd round draft pick.

For reference:

LeBron James as the No. 1 overall pick in 2003: $18.78M

Bronny James as the No. 55 overall pick in 2024: $7.9M

And look, I want to be on record that I personally don't care, nor do I see anything wrong with the Lakers taking Bronny James at #55 overall. Did he deserve it? Obviously not. He averaged 4 points per game on a below .500 college team and he has health concerns. And we've got members of the media saying things like "he's such a good kid" and "his work ethic is strong" like those types of things are more important than speed, strength, height, and skill. Everyone with a brain knows why they did it, seeing as it guaranteed to keep LeBron James in Los Angeles for what seems like what will be the rest of his career. And the fact that the 55th pick in the draft is an absolute lottery ticket that rarely, if ever, cashes.....so why not use it to make sure it keeps the most famous player on the planet in the organization? Who cares if it costs an extra couple hundred thousand or whatever the 55th pick makes......right?

Wrong. And we'll start with a Trivia Question: who went 55th overall last year?

Times up. Folks that would be Mr. Isaiah Wong, Guard from the Miami Hurricanes.

ACC Player of the Year and led Miami to the Final 4. And how much do we think he signed for…….? If we're playing Price Is Right rules, I think one dollar would be a pretty smart play. Because it was only a two-day contract totaling $560,000….

This will only fire up the Bronny haters even more. He may very well have a good career, and I think through jersey sales and his Dad staying in LA he's already worth the contract, but the idea that last year's pick got enough for a few cups of coffee and isn't currently in the league, where as Bronny is guaranteed to be in the league for at least 3 years making 8x a much money…..yikes. But then again he's a good kid and says Yes Sir and No Sir in his interviews.
