These Shorter Fellas Chugging Out Of Shoes Prove That Utah Is Fully Ready For NHL Hockey

I was a little nervous when I first heard the NHL was awarding a franchise to Utah. In my head, you're not allowed to drink in Utah. Heck, I figured they even had laws about driving after having a few too many Coca-Colas. Hockey fandom and booze go together like beans and cornbread, so I just assumed the crowds in Utah weren't going to be able to match the intensity of a hockey game.

Then out of nowhere, these two smaller-statured kings come out ripping a couple shoey's during the inaugural game in Utah last night. Now I don't just think Utah is ready for hockey, I think it might be the most perfect spot in the world for an NHL team. Crush the shoey, ditch the New Balance, immediately get back to chugging your pint, fire up the crowd, rinse & repeat. If the crowd in Utah can manage to put together a performance like that 41 times per year, then there's no telling how far this Utah team can go.

Obviously the hometown team gave the new fans plenty to get fired up about after Dylan Guenther scored the first goal in franchise history just 5 minutes into the game.

Captain Keller gets on the board later in the period and it's party time in Utah.

Not the prettiest goal that's ever been scored, but it's always great to get your captain involved.

Add a fight into the mix and a win in game 1, and Utah is fully hooked now.

All it took was one game for Utah to have an infinitely radder home ice advantage than the Coyotes ever had. Someone should have thought about the little person chug off sooner in Glendale.
