Ball Up Top: Livvy Dunne Says Her Relationship With Paul Skenes Nearly Ended Before It Began Because He Wouldn't Follow Her Back On Instagram

Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne are living life as well as you can at the age of 22. While Livvy is a decorated LSU gymnast turned celebrity, Skenes is a flame throwing monster of a pitcher whose "bad" starts most pitchers would take any day of the week. Livvy has no problem putting herself out there whether it be via social media or commercials, while Skenes opts to just focus on pitching and really nothing else. This dude lives to be out on a mound every fifth day. You can imagine this GQ interview they did in the offseason caught him off guard when he finally figured out what was going on.

A fun part of this exposé was Livvy talking about how they started dating on campus —it nearly never happened.

(GQ) But their relationship nearly derailed in the early going for one perhaps surprising reason: “He wouldn’t follow me back on Instagram,” Livvy recalls.

Paul didn’t want to follow Livvy back, he explains. He had an Instagram account—what college kid doesn’t?—but rarely used it. Classic no-distractions athlete stuff—but Livvy could hardly understand it. “I was like, Who is this kid and why won’t he follow me back?” He was basically the only living soul on LSU’s campus not consuming her content: She has more than 5 million followers on Instagram, and 8 million more on TikTok.

Dude just wanted to focus on ball. He was a phenom at LSU, pitching for a top D1 program with eyes on being a national champion and future number one pick. He didn't have time to pursue something as silly as a girlfriend. Funny enough though, being so serious and un-interested only made Livvy pursue him more. Like in a TV show or movie playing hard to get, except this was completely unintentional.

So in reality, the answer to how did Paul Skenes land Livvy Dunne —ignoring her existence.

An important part of this interview was comforting myself that I'm not the only person in the world who exits a shower and promptly dumps buckets of water on the floor.

Now this mainly happens in hotels where there are zero mats on the floor, but it's still an epidemic. Women just don't have this problem it seems? I need to put at least two to three towels down on the floor to avoid a tsunami. When I was in Miami recently some asshole hotel had only half of the shower covered with glass. The second half was just wide open. I stood no chance in keeping the room dry. Hotels simply need to be better moving forward when it comes to water prevention in the bathroom. Paul, I stand with you here.

Man do these two have it good. Livvy is an actual top level celebrity at this point and as long as Skenes health holds up he's positioned to become one of the greatest pitchers we've ever seen.

He will be the NL Cy Young frontrunner for as long as 1) he's in the National League 2) he's healthy.

and Livvy? She's gonna dominate the internet for years and years to come.

Power couple? They're the definition of it, but based on the interview they gave to GQ they haven't really changed a bit and that's very refreshing considering how terrible most people are these days when they attain any sort of fame. Looking right at you Tom Scibelli.
