The Knicks Come Up Short Once Again In A Slopfest At Home And Give The Pistons Life As The Series Heads Back To Detroit
I am trying to look for a bright side to that dogshit game we just watched and all I can come up with is that it was obvious this game was likely going to end like that by the way the Knicks started the game. The energy wasn't there and the play was nowhere near as crisp, which let you know that it was going to be a dogfight all night.
What I didn't see coming however was Jalen Brunson going 4-for-16 in a potential clinching game or him being off the court with Josh Hart for the end of crunch time due to injury or the Knicks deciding to shoot free throws like a college team. Once all that happened, you could've booked the Knicks flight back to Detroit on the spot, even though TNT wanted to put that the Knicks won the series to be dickheads.
Now the Knicks are a loss away from having to play a pivotal Game 7 in a series where most people say they have 5 of the 6 most talented players. That is unacceptable no matter how tough your opponent is or how hard they play. I fully expect the Little Caesars Arena will be a madhouse on Thursday and their team will match the energy. If the Knicks aren't able to do so, we'll know there will be a Game 7 at MSG sooner rather than later. Luckily I'm kinda at peace with whatever this team does because it seems like they are just as happy playing to their floor as they are to their ceiling.
