It Just Means More: Young Phillies Fan In The Crowd Pitches Along With Jose Alvarado As He Struck Out 3 In A Row With The Bases Loaded

The Phillies played one of the more ridiculous games of baseball last night against Nationals. Up until the 9th inning, no moment was more ridiculous than Jose Alvarado coming in to pitch for the Phillies in the top of the 8th. The Phillies were up 3-2 and the first 3 hitters Alvarado faced ended up on base. Up by 1, bases loaded, zero outs.
Then he strikes out Josh Bell. Then he strikes out Dylan Crews. And all he has left to get himself out of this jam he put himself in is Alex Call. Sometimes you need a little 'Angels in the Outfield' situation to get you out of some tough times, and that's exactly what this little fella provided for Jose Alvarado.
The Phillies' bullpen has been a disaster this year. It's been a disaster for quite some time now. But maybe they've just found their answer. Maybe this kid is able to telepathically inject some excellence into this group of losers who immediately decide to blow incredible 7 innings of work out of Zack Wheeler. I would have made sure this kid has season tickets the rest of the way, but clearly he took the 9th inning off. Because the Phillies gave up 4 in the top of the 9th before having to comeback and win on a walk-off wild pitch.
Really could have used the good juju with Kerkering on the mound in the 9th, but I guess he used up all of his magic getting Alvarado out of that jam. Understandable. Phils still win.
