SHOCKER: Rockstar Announced That Grand Theft Auto VI Will Be Delayed A Year And Come Out In May 2026

Yes I purposely started off the blog with a gif that is about as old as GTA V just to make a point on how long it's been since Rockstar blessed us with one of these masterpieces. Which is why I am fine with this announcement. I would imagine the line for if GTA VI's release date would be after December 31, 2025 was set at -10000000 in Vegas, no matter what Rockstar said when they formally announced that it was coming out, based simply on everything we know about the company and the game.

As one of the resident Olds around these parts, I don't love video game delays since I remember when Duke Nukem was the hottest game on the planet back in the day and its sequel Duke Nukem Forever was announced then delayed then delayed again then delayed indefinitely before it came out with little fanfare in 2011 as an absolute dud. You know shit is bad when the Guinness Book Of World Records is chirping you.

However, I also cannot even fathom the amount of work that it takes to make a video game let alone a Grand Theft Auto video game, which is why I can't get mad at a very fluid date getting pushed back. I'll even give Rockstar one more delay into 2027 because they will bump it back to the next gen systems or some really annoying bullshit. But once three delays happen and 2028 is being whispered, which is a year we will probably be lucky to see as a society, I have no choice but to bury the dream of another GTA coming out in my lifetime. Which honestly hurts now, but considering how much my gaming ability has slipped as I've gotten older, I'll probably be fine not getting digitally murdered by 10-year-olds online while playing a game I had to buy an entire hard drive for just to have enough space for it on my PS5, PS6, or whatever system GTA6 actually comes out on.

Until then, we'll just have to watch this trailer on loop and patiently wait for it like I've waited for Dr. Dre to release Detox forever (Don't you dare tell me Compton was Detox renamed because I refuse to believe Dre would actually drop a dud like that for the most anticipated album in rap).
