Sovereignty Wins The Kentucky Derby In The Mud At Churchill Downs

What a race. Shout out Elio for the pick too. But it was classic Kentucky Derby where you had muddy weather, something that's starting to become the norm here during the first Saturday in May. You had the favorite in Journalism battling down the home stretch, not being able to win. It honestly was a perfect race. It's also fitting that a horse named journalism kinda died there going for the win. Not blogging, journalism. Feel like if the horse was named Blogging, we're looking at a Triple Crown winner.

But this is about the race. Perfect run down. Perfect run from Junior Alvarado. This is why you go to the Derby. You put on your fancy hat and watch the favorite lose. It really is the best 2 minutes in sports, even if the whole celebration of the race is obviously far longer. Love the call to the post, the pageantry of it all and then watching a race filled with mud everywhere.

Now we go to Preakness and see if Sovereignty can get to the Belmont with the Triple Crown.
