‘I’m A Football Guy’ - Mikal Bridges Gave Knicks Fans Even More Reason To Love Him As A Player, Exactly Why He Won Game 1
What a beautiful and perfect interview to watch this morning. Hold on, I do think we need the game-sealing play to watch.
That's picture perfect defense. That's called being better, being stronger, being more prepared. Or, in the words of Mikal Bridges, it's being a football guy. Read the eyes, make the play. Clem talked about how Mikal Bridges is one of the weirdest players in the league:
It's fairly simple when it comes to Mikal Bridges. He's going to play every single second of the game. What the Knicks can't have him do is be the guy trying to initiate offense from 40-feet out. That's not what Bridges does, nor did he ever do it even back to the Nova days. You let him be a secondary creator, a shot maker and a lock down defender. Basically everything Bridges did in overtime is what he should be asked to do for 48 minutes.
No one is saying Bridges is the perfect player, but he's perfect for this team. He's going to play every single second if Thibs lets him, he's going to be enough of a threat on offense to help win games. Step 1 was just tricking the Nova guys that they were back in the NCAA Tournament again. Now I'm thinking we trick Mikal Bridges into thinking he's playing a Rams game. Not sure why he's a Rams fan, but it'll play. As long as he makes plays like this he can call himself whatever he wants.
