Ty Lawson Missing A Kings Team Flight Is Not Exactly The Most Shocking News Ever

ESPN- Sacramento Kings guard Ty Lawson will have to meet with team officials to explain himself after missing the Kings’ recent flight to Kentucky for an exhibition game, according to league sources. Sources told ESPN.com that Lawson was late to a Kings shootaround in Las Vegas earlier this week, then missed the team’s trip east before Saturday night’s Sacramento/Washington preseason game at the University of Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, which represented a homecoming of sorts for Kings star DeMarcus Cousins and Wizards counterpart John Wall. The Kings attributed Lawson’s absence from the lineup in Lexington to “personal reasons.” He has since returned to Sacramento, sources said, and faces an uncertain future with his new team after the week’s events. Lawson’s agent, Happy Walters, couldn’t be immediately reached Sunday.

Stories like this are why I thank God for the Sacramento Kings every night before bed. They are the Knicks of the West Coast. Our brothers from another owner. While other NBA franchises are building their teams with carefully constructed metrics, the Kings build their team using Littlefinger’s “Chaos is a ladder” theory. There is no other way to explain hiring George Karl to coach Boogie Cousins and company. Or willfully going from Rajon Rondo to Ty Lawson. Or like 100 other stories the last decade or so. The Kings are the down on his luck guy that loves the bad girls because he had one AWESOME relationship with one more than a decade ago.

Now he is searching for that type of magic again but instead digging herself deeper and deeper into a hole. And while it’s sad and painful to watch, it’s also entertaining and makes you feel better about yourself.

As for Lawson, he has to put this one on the Kings, right? One thing is a player to just up and miss a flight from boring ass Sacramento. But if you bring a player with a Wikipedia section like this to Las Vegas, you are begging him to go MIA for at least a week.

And if the Kings still are upset at Ty, he absolutely has to use the excuse that he set his reminder for 6 AM instead of 6 PM or some shit. Everybody has been there before and will be there again. Air tight excuse*.

*As long as nobody remembers that Ty Lawson is always fucking up and is on his fourth NBA team since 2015.
