…It was the final game in a five-game play-off series between the Southern Sting, a team from the Saint John area, and the Grand Lake Moose of the New Brunswick Junior B Hockey League.
Jr B hockey is nothing more than a glorified men’s league. It’s just a bunch of kids who aren’t ready to give up on the dream yet and continue playing even though there’s nowhere else for them to advance. In some ways, it’s the purest form of hockey you’ll ever find. Because this isn’t a bunch of kids playing because their hard ass dad forces them too and they’re not a bunch of studs who are playing for a college scholarship or professionally. Just a bunch of guys who couldn’t quite hack it but still love the game too much to hang up the skates. So when you have that much passion for the game and some fuckin’ hoser starts chirping at you from the stands while you’re sitting in the penalty box, obviously you’re gonna want to bash his face in. Most guys would have the self control to take the chirps with stride, remain focused on the game and continue living their lives. But not a Jr B Hero like our boy over here. He decided to climb over the glass into the bleachers and beat the piss out of that cock sucker himself. Just a damn shame he didn’t beat him over the head with his own shoe.
All I’m saying is that this is exactly what hockey needs. This is the kind of action that puts asses in seats and keeps them coming back for more. This is the kind of thing you’d see coming straight out of Slapshot. While the rest of the world continues to grow soft, hockey and hockey players remain raw as fuck. So shoutout to this player, shoutout to the fan who egged him on, and shoutout to whoever his lawyer is who will be trying to keep this kid out of jail for assault. They’re all heroes in my eyes.
