A Suspected Drunk Driver Tried To Escape A Police Chase By Driving Directly Into A Lake
(Source)- A suspected drunk driver’s plan to avoid to Arlington police Friday afternoon didn’t exactly go his way. Dashcam video released by the Arlington Police Department shows the suspect’s vehicle drive off as police approached him on Perkins and Arkansas streets. After a short chase, the suspect drove right into Lake Arlington and tried to swim away, but officers were able to quickly capture him.
That right there is basically the best case scenario for a police chase involving an (alleged) drunk driver. He gets caught, his car is RUINED, and no innocent people got hurt. Gotta chalk that up as a huge W for the rest of the world.
Now I’ve never driven drunk or been chased by the cops because I’m not an asshole. But I imagine it requires a Peyton Manning-esque ability to think on your feet and call an audible. And you probably need some fast-twitch muscles on the level of Mike Trout to execute a getaway plan you are making up on the fly as cops breathe down your neck. Luckily this guy has neither and relied on either his drunk brain or Michael Scott’s GPS and ended up getting his car into one of the two situations that you can’t even escape from in Grand Theft Auto (the other being when your car turns upside down).
