The "Body Positive" Movement Is PISSED That A Skinny Woman Wrote A Book Called "Body Positive"

Boy oh boy, do we have an interesting tangle of body shaming here. The body positive movement, according to body positivists, was built to make everyone feel good about their body. Yet here we have a group of body positivists who are SHAMING a WOMAN for feeling SO GOOD about her BODY that she wrote a book about it. I love it! The irony is thicker than… (insert inappropriate body joke here–shame on you).

Having said that, taking a term that was used as a rallying cry by people with “marginalized bodies” (their term) and using it to refer to “terrific bodies” (my term) is savage. I feel positive about my body, but I would NEVER tell that to someone struggling with their weight. To me, it’s akin to dropping the N-bomb. Not my term! I don’t have the right to use it! I’d also never write a book about my diet and workout routine and call it “Body Positive.” I’d call it “How To Stay Fit Like A Douchebag” or “Look What Privilege And Dietary Knowledge Can Do!”

The point is, everyone deserves to feel positive about their bodies. Whether you’re overweight or toned, starving or extremely short, we’re all beautiful. Ok maybe starving people don’t feel that positive. Usually that’s not their fault. But the point is, they deserve to feel positive, if they want.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have this guy:

“Put down the fork and listen up.”

This was good:
