The Lakers Are Enforcing The "LaVar Ball Rule", Which Prohibits Media From Interviewing Guest Of Players After Games

ESPN- In what many employees at Staples Center view as the “LaVar Ball rule,” this season the Los Angeles Lakers are enforcing “an existing policy” that no longer allows members of the media to congregate in a section of the arena among family and associates of players after games. Family, friends and agents wait for players in the seats behind the basket closest to the visiting team’s locker room at the conclusion of games. Interviews conducted in that designated area and near the tunnel leading to the arena corridors are now forbidden.

In prior years, media socialized and, at times, interviewed individuals in that sector without interference. If a media member is recognized in that area now, arena security or Laker staffers direct that he or she leave the area. “It’s not a new policy; it’s an existing policy,” a team spokesperson told ESPN. “There has been more media presence in that area than before. That section is strictly for family and guests of players. It’s a privacy concern.”

Look at the mainstream media trying to silence yet another outspoken voice in 2017. Sad! Is it LaVar’s fault that he is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment today and a walking viral sound bite? Hell no. Instead the media is trying to blackball him like he’s some sort of leper. Unfair!

I mean I guess LaVar criticizing Lonzo’s teammates and coach doesn’t help the Lakers locker room at all.

But everyone from Jeanie Buss on down had to love LaVar throwing shade at Byron Scott.

Something tells me that if a reporter wants to get a quote from LaVar Ball that will potentially lead to millions of clicks, that reporter will figure out a way to get it from LaVar, who has apparently already perfected the “Drive your gigantic SUV while conducting an interview out of the window” move. That clip is even more impressive than Lonzo becoming the youngest NBA player to ever register a triple double. The Lakers can’t stop LaVar Ball. They can’t even hope to contain him.

It’s crazy to think that a year ago we barely knew who LaVar Ball was and now he has an unofficial rule being named after him in the NBA. I feel like social influencer is a relatively new term, but LaVar is already so much the GOAT of it that the NBA doesn’t know what to do other than throwing the rulebook at him. We had the Jordan Rules back for Michael Jordan and now the LaVar Ball Rule for the Biggest Baller of them all. I don’t think LaVar could have beaten Michael Jordan in a 1-on-1 game. But I do know LaVar’s Shoes Sold to Points Scored ratio stuffs MJ in a bodybag.
