Dustin Byfuglien Goes Top Shelf With A 1-Handed Slap Shot. How Does He Get His Right Arm So Strong?
No, you heathens. This isn’t a set up for a masturbation joke. I’m genuinely curious as to what Dustin Byfuglien’s workout regiment looks like after watching this shot.
Obviously it’s going to take a ton of arm strength to get that much power on a one-handed clapper. Everything from your shoulders to your triceps to your forearms to your wrist. I’m assuming he goes pretty heavy on the military press. Maybe super sets the military press with some lateral raises. Buff is a… larger fella so I’d be pretty surprised if he does a ton of standard dips to hit the tri’s. He’s probably more of a skull crusher/tricep pull down kind of a guy if we’re being honest. But here’s a couple of things that I want to make abundantly clear to all you boys and girls back home who hope to one day be as strong as Dustin Byfuglien so you, as well, can go top ched with a one-handed clappy.
1) Biceps do essentially nothing for this shot right here. If you’re looking to be the next Dustin Byfuglien, don’t sign up at your local gym and just do a shit ton of bicep curls for 45 minutes and then call it a day. That might help if you ever need to pull something heavy but that’s a completely different motion than a slap shot. It’ll look good on the beach, sure. But you’re still going to shoot like a little bitch.
2) The most important body part to focus on when it comes to shooting this hard, especially one handed, is your core. You can have the biggest arms in the world but if your core is as soft as Charmin then you’re still going to shoot like a bender. All that power is coming from your core and your lower body. It’s all about opening up those hips, pulling back that shoulder, and then driving through with as much torque as possible to gas the shit out of that puck. I’m assuming Dusty Buff spends quite a bit of time on the cable machines to work his core. Nice and heavy on the push-pulls. Maybe ends every workout with some planks and Russian twists.
So there you have it. Dustin Byfuglien is a beast. But it’s not like he’s out here doing any workouts that are impossible for any ordinary Joe Schmo to show up to the gym and do. Just get your ass in there and before you know it, you’ll be ripping one-handed clappers top bunk just like Big Buff. And, yes, he probably also masturbates from time to time just to get that extra pump.
