The Goddamn Jets Season 3, Episode 11 - The Jets Release Kelechi Osemele For Getting Surgery On His Torn Labrum

How was Monday Night’s embarrassing ass kicking somehow not the lowest point of the week? I swear to God this fucking team is taking years off my life. For those who might not know the details, Jets offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele has a torn labrum and wanted to get surgery for weeks. He had 3 doctors weigh in, every single one said he needed surgery. The Jets accused him of scamming the team, saying he only chose to get surgery after finding out the team was on the verge of releasing him. They said it was a preexisting condition, one that he was able to play with, and that he’s elected to get surgery just go continue to get paid.

Now listen, I’m sure its somewhere in the middle. The Jets can’t just be making ALL of this up. I’m sure Osemele is using the system to his advantage and looking out for his best interests. But here’s the fucking thing – HIS LABRUM IS RIPPED OFF THE BONE. Sure, it was a preexisting condition, but its worsening every week, and so is his play. Thats what happens when you get injured..you play worse. So the guy says he needs and wants surgery and the team basically tells him GFY. What a clown shoe organization. They fined him for being absent, they list him as “DOUBTFUL” when he’s absolutely “OUT.” Adam Gase says he hasnt even had a conversation with him. Just pettiness on a whole ‘nother level. A level that looks like SHIT to prospective free agents, veterans, agents, fans and basically anyone with a brain who knows this not the way you should handle injuries.

Lets say, for argument’s sake, the Jets are 100% correct and Kelechi is scamming them. First off I dont know how thats possible, unless he’s completely making up the injury. But lets just say thats the case…is it still worth this disaster? Is it worth this PR debacle? This season is a fucking WRAP. One injured offensive lineman isnt going to make or break the franchise. Just let the guy get surgery and avoid looking like the assholes who treat their players like shit. In every possible scenario, the Jets come out looking like dickheads. Not to mention you have to handle this situation knowing that you already have a piss poor reputation when it comes to front office competence, and so you’re already behind the 8ball in this case. Just avoid the media catastrophe, right or wrong, and get this season over with as soon as possible. Goddamn morons.
